The Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam office was initially established in 1993 under DKSH, our local distributor. In 1998, the first representative office in the south started its operation. Pursuing the core of our "Leitbild," we established Value through Innovation for our customers in Vietnam by delivering a portfolio of breakthrough medicines that helped to improve the lives of patients and Animal Health.

In Jan 2020, Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam LLC was established as a legal entity for our Human Pharma business unit.

Growing strongly over more than two decades, Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam is the number 1 company in Animal Health and continues to advance its ranking among the top 10 companies in human pharmaceuticals.

1990's: Boehringer Ingelheim starts to build its product portfolio in the therapeutic areas respiratory, inflammation and cardiovascular

2000's: Our portfolio is expanded with the launch of products to treat acute ischemic stroke and Parkinson’s disease

2010's: Further expansion of the therapeutic areas cardiovascular (anticoagulation, hypertension) and entry into type 2 diabetes with a DDP4 inhibitor.

2018-2020: BIVN advances to a number 10 company in the Vietnam Ethical Pharma market driven by the launch of further oral antidiabetic agents, including a life-saving SGLT2 inhibitor, a molecularly targeted drug for non-small cell lung cancer, combination therapy for COPD and an antifibrotic for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis

Jan. 2020: Started to operate as a 100% foreign invested enterprise as Boehringer Ingelheim Vietnam Limited Liability Company

Jun. 2021: BIVN supports the “A Piece of Germany in Vietnam” campaign of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City. The campaign aims to generate greater visibility to the connections between Germany and Vietnam in the multiple areas including economics, science and development cooperation. The logo of the campaign intends to visually communicate high-quality contribution of German origin in the advertised matter.

Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health (BIAH) is the second largest Animal Health company in Vietnam. BIAH is leading the market in Swine vaccines with a market share of 38% and in Pets with a market share of 35%. Our products and services rely on the prevention of diseases by vaccination in Swine and Poultry and on vaccines and preventive parasiticides in Pets. We believe that the future of Animal Health is to improve the wellbeing of animals through preventative care. We recognize that if animals are healthy, humans are healthier too. The offer to our customers is that we create the future of Animal Health by preventing diseases.

Swine vaccines are the cornerstone of the BIAH business in Vietnam. With vaccines like CircoFLEX, MycoFLEX and Ingelvac PRRS MLV as well as the innovative vaccination concepts FLEXcombo and 3FLEX, BIAH is not only leading the respective market segments but providing innovation to swine producers. Other than products, BI is known for providing innovative technical solutions and services to their customers beyond the bottle.

The Vietnam poultry market is growing fast driven by double-digit growth in Poultry Biologicals.

Apart from vaccines, the vaccine application, vaccination technology and diagnostics is crucial for the success in preventing diseases. Together with our distributor Viphavet, BI is focusing on providing innovative Vaccination Technologies and Services with our Vaccination Technology Center in Vietnam.

We recognize that vaccination decisions should be based on veterinary diagnostics. We do provide advanced diagnostic Services to our customers. We own and operate the only private RT PCR machine in the country. The BIAH Poultry team has launched in the last 5 Years at least one inovative vaccine per Year in the Vietnam market including BDA Blen, Prevexxion and Newxxitek.

Driven by a fast-developing middle class and urbanization, the pet market in Vietnam is developing strongly. BI offers leading Parasiticides and Vaccines in our pet business. Strong brands like Frontline, Nexgard and Heartgard drive the preventive strategy in pets. Our special focus is to serve the needs of Pet Veterinarians and the fast-growing Pet Shop segment by providing knowledge along with quality products. In the last 3 Years, we launched innovative products like: Nextgard Spectra, Recombitek C4, Broadline and Frontline Triact. Additional products for the prevention of parasites and additoinal vaccines will be launched in 2021 to 2023.
